Abstract:

The study area, although it is located in a desert area, the agricultural activity in it is important because it is the basis for providing food to the population, whether within the study area or marketing the surplus to neighboring areas. This study came to show one of the problems facing agricultural production in the districts of Hit and Al Qaim of Anbar Governorate, of pests and bushes and their impact on agricultural production.

The study dealt with a vital topic related to agricultural production, affecting it negatively and affecting the progress of the agricultural process. The study included four chapters, where the study problem came from the reality of agricultural production in the districts of Hit and Al Qaim, whether it is related to the natural or human aspect, which in turn has negative effects, which leads to a decrease in the productivity of the dunum due to pest infestation or the spread of diseases and jungles. And its hypothesis that geographical factors play a major role in the spread of pests and jungles, and their impact on agricultural production, both quantitatively and qualitatively. The geographical location contributed to the variation in the types of pests and bushes affecting agricultural production in the study area, especially the security conditions and social factors witnessed in the study area, which had a role in the spread of agricultural pests. As this study aims to identify the most important pests and bushes, which are one of the most serious problems facing agricultural production during the agricultural season 2019-2020, as well as treatment and drawing future directions for the purpose of achieving optimal means and methods of prevention for agricultural products. The first chapter of the study included the natural factors affecting agricultural production ( Geological composition, soil surface sections, climate, water resources, natural vegetation) As for the second chapter, it represents the human factors affecting agricultural production (population and labor force, irrigation and drainage, state policy, cooperative societies, agricultural tenure, modern technologies) and the third chapter deals with the reality of production Agricultural crops in the study area for the 2019-2020 school season (field crops, grain and vegetable crops, tuber crops, fodder crops, industrial crops, horticultural crops,
livestock). The fourth chapter dealt with pests and bushes in the study area (agricultural pests, agricultural bushes, recent trends in pest and bush control), as well as conclusions, recommendations and a list of sources. The field study of the study sample, the questionnaire form, showed that the number of farmers who help from agricultural pests (40%) and that the crops infected with smut disease in the district of Hit (850) were infected, while in Al-Qaim district it reached (900) as well as the number of fields affected by powdery mildew (814) In the district of Hit and Al-Qaim (869) injuries. As for the fields affected by mosaic diseases, (850) were injured in the district of Hit and Al-Qaim (900). The questionnaire form also showed that the animals infected with sheep pox disease (40) were infected in the district of Hit and Al-Qaim (25). And the number of livestock infected with gastroenteritis (752) in the district of Hit and Al-Qaim (541). They show farmers suffer from power outages and that government support and measures taken by the government to combat pests and jungles are not commensurate with the area of cultivated land, and that most of the measures taken by the farmer in the study area to reduce pests and bushes are planting improved resistant seeds in addition to evaporated seeds. Despite the health conditions of the country due to the Corona pandemic, the study relied in several parts on the field study, which was represented by observations and personal interviews with agricultural production workers and others, as well as questionnaire forms, which were distributed in a limited way and were used to be part of the results of this study.
