ABSTRACT
City Bartila is the center hand Bartila , an administrative subsidiary of Hamdaniya district in Nineveh province , is located in the east part of the province, the city is an astronomer at the intersection of longitude 43.22 eastward circuit and circle airing 36.21 north .table area ( 9125 km 2 ) and population ( 61860 ) in the year 2013.
The study aims to study the use of urban land in the city of Bartila, and how they are distributed using geographic information systems (GIS).
Initially offered study the introduction theoretical of the concept of urban land use, and the importance of these uses, and goals, and different theories for land uses that explain this uses and types, and the factors that affect the use lands. Apart from offer, a theoretical background to the concept of geographic information systems (GIS).
The study also clarified the frame conception geographic information systems, and justification, and components the geographic information systems, and the important jobs they offer and the relationship between them and the uses of urban land.
The study also showed the spatial characteristics of the geographical city Bartila natural, and human the reality of the urban land uses in the city Bartila is to be residential, commercial, and industrial uses, transportation and services.
This study prepared using geographic information systems (GIS) to drawing the maps. and researcher depends on two types of data, and two spatial map data of the foundation of the city.
After determine how uses them in the form of points, lines and polygons. And metadata that represent the characteristics of those uses, such as (the site - the type of use - etc...), and after what has been the initial data collection and preparation of maps for research began entered into the computer stage.
The second phase epitomized the introduction of metadata to data that have been opened in the program base (Arc Catalog 9.3) and then linked to spatial data and begin the process of mapping uses the adoption of database design.
The third stage is up the maps using the program design (Arc Map 9.3). Where was the establishment of a map of the use of residential, commercial, industrial, transportation, and services.
