Summary 

    This study deals with the subject of potable water in Giza city (geographic study), this study aims to demonstrate the impact from geographic factors in the provision and consumption of potable water, and the relation of that with human and natural factors in this city, with the convenience of this relation to fulfill the requirements of the inhabitants from this vital need.

   This study consists of five main chapters preceded by and introduction followed by a conclusion as in following:

   The first chapter deals with the sources of potable water and the factors that influence its distribution, as the raw source whether superficial like Nile river or ground water like the under ground reservoirs, this chapter aims to analyze the geographic factors that influence the production of potable water and its consumption at the area of study about the importance of this location in the functional and urban development, with the study of surface conditions, climate and administrative division of Giza city, as the study discusses the inhabitants, their distribution, density, economic and living level, as this important to the topic of the study, as the in habitants are the aim of this provision while production and are affected by population and the characteristics of the inhabitants. 

  The second chapter discusses the origin of potable water utility, along with the study of types of stations, their productive capacities, with the study of geographic distribution of ground tanks , the hoists, the ground networks along with the pipes for transportation of potable water .

  The third chapter deals with the consumption of potable water from different consumptive sectors with the analysis of increased consumption compared with the consumption of the governorate, as the largest share of consumed water goes to the domestic consumption due to the increased number of subscribers at 43.9% of the consumption of the city followed by governmental consumption at 27.3% and the consumption of factories and workshops at 13.9%, the commercial consumption at 6.8% while the investment and touristic consumption came in the last position at 2.03% of the total consumption of the city. 

    The fourth chapter deals with the applied study of Haram district through the demonstration of geographic aspects of this district, with the study of population rise, urban development of this district, as the study shows the impacts on water consumption in the area, the provision of water and  different aspects of consumption and finally the study of some problems as show by the study.

  The fifth chapter deals with the problems of potable water at Giza city along with the suggestions for the resolution of this problem, upon the study of the problems of production, distribution networks, consumptions, the problems of production economies in addition to the study of pollution, the low level of water quality along with the suggestions many solutions according to financial possibilities , as the study assesses the future needs of water up till 2032.



Abstract 

  Water is necessary for Life، It is a fact that all humans know it، Where there is water, the life is found، Life of the human, animal, and plant،Importance of water is increased, as a vital resource in the present time Due to the increasing pressure made by the population side, who are growing at high rates, and also the impact of rising living standards, expansion of water consumption in economical sectors and particularly in the industrial, in addition to the agricultural ones.

   The drinking water study in the city of Giza are of great importance, due to the largest in size, urban population, and contains the largest concentrations of urban random in Egypt, which are not connected to drinking water supply in the city in a legal way, where 70% of residents of slum areas that do not relate to official links based on links illegal to meet the needs of drinking water.

  The drinking water resources would be recognized, as well as geographical factors affecting them،Then, the study addresses the evolution of the production and consumption of drinking water.

   Finally, the study is concerned with the monitoring of drinking water problems and attempt to find scientific solutions to them, and will focus on the vision of the future for the production, distribution and consumption of drinking water study area.
