A geomorphologic study has been conducted of al-Teebs fan Alluvial–by using Remote Sensing, and Geographical Information Systems, This area is situated to the north – east of Maysan Governorate to the west of Iranian foothills .
It stretches over 2150 Km2. its basin, however, covers 2850 Km2, and most of it is within the Iranian territories .
A stronomicall, it talls between (°47 31 25 .9 – °47 07 8.8)east in lonftitude, and (°32 28 4.5 – °32 64 2.4 ) north in latitude. Do it is within the same arid region in terms of weather the study aims at identifying the natural potentials of Al-Teebs Alluvial fan, and the impacting processes in bringing it about, along with limiting the ecological threats contronting it, it is revealed that the area is quite unlnerable to the geomorphological proces, and this is due to the rocky open areas whose response vary with the geomorpholical processes and that it is exposed to extreme weather conditions, and rain talls .
This has resulted in speeding up the geomorpholosical processes. In addition to the morphometric analyses of the basin, and the drainage web done through the use of modern techniques to come up with a digital analysis of the plain, a spatial modeling of the geomorpholosical processes has also been made.
To realize the above aims, modern techniques such as (Land sat 7) and the DEM of the region were used, Morphometric maps were also used to help draw the geomorphological map of the arer.
The resulting data were gathered to form a geographical data base to draw charts of the land patentcals and its suitability to development and how to avoid dangers.
The study strires to give answers to so many questions, and to do so, it has adopted many approaches, among which are land surface approrach, the evolutionary approach and the quantification approach .
The study talls in to four chapters, chapter one deals with the formatine tactors of al-Teebs area, morphometeric andlysis of drainage basin is taken up by the second chapter . chapter three, however is devoted to the geomorphological analysis of the residues in the area, it covers the analysis of the soil, the water resources, and erosion, along with land forms of al-Teebs area, As regards the four th chapter, it presents an analysis of the land surface according to the potentiality and suitability to determine the capacity of al-Teebs Allubial fan.
These chapters are rounded up with a list of conclusions and recommend ations . Among the most important of which are the following :-
- The study highlijhts the complementarit and integration of the GIS with the RS in setting up a solid geographical data base, and building up map protolypes for the sake of analysis .
- it shows that the structural deformations in the rock layers, and the presence of cracks in the surface of the area, the difference in terns of the solidity of the rocks due to the geomorpholosical faceors have resulted in a variety of earth unit .
- The morphometric analysis made in the study shows the clear impact in the water erosion, for there is a close relation between the intensity of water draiafe, and the size of the transferred residnes .
Signyicautly, it had been revealed that the area is exposed to a number of ecolosical threats which have been classified into fine threats ; floods however, have the highest rates among those threats.
The study is, then, finalized with the recommend dations along with a bibliosragphy of the Arabic and foreiyin reyerences .
